This morning Verizon Wireless had just announced its 4G LTE Network launching Dec 5th with 2 LTE USB Modems. 38 Markets will go live on Dec 5th as well as 60 metropolitan airports across the United States.

Prices for the USB Device will be $99.99 after $50 Mail in rebate on a 2 year contract and the Plans will start at $50/month for 5GB and $80/month for 10GB with overages at $10 per 1GB.

From the press release, Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless, said, “Beginning Sunday, Verizon Wireless is making the best network even better. Our initial 4G LTE launch gives customers access to the fastest and most advanced mobile network in America and immediately reaches more than one-third of all Americans, right where they live. That’s just the start. We will quickly expand 4G LTE, and by 2013 will reach the existing Verizon Wireless 3G coverage area.”

With 4G LTE, Verizon is expecting download speeds of 5-12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2-5 Mbps, up to 10x faster as current data speeds.

Motorola Droid Pro and HTC Merge Quick Hands On!

Sorry no pictures to show, but last night at an unnamed event I got a chance to see both the Moto Droid Pro and the HTC Merge. I must say that both phones will be great hits for this coming 4th Quarter.  I only got to spend barely a minute with each phone but the hardware on both feels good.

The Moto Droid Pro keyboard feels very similar to the BlackBerry Bold keyboard, nice soft touch to it.  The touchscreen does not look cramped or small at all.  The back of the phone was a nice polished finish.  For those long time BlackBerry users that have not made the switch to an Android device yet, this may be the one that will seal the deal!

The HTC Merge was the other phone I got my hands on and definitely did not disappoint.  For having a slideout keyboard the phone did not feel thick or heavy at all.  As a matter of fact, it felt thinner and lighter than the Droid2.  The keys on the keyboard felt very spacious and made good use of the space it had.  I currently use the HTC Incredible now but I do miss having a keyboard. The HTC Merge would be a great phone to transition to after my Incredible.

Overall both phones will be great additions to the Verizon Android Family.  Looking forward to getting more time with both phones and will be selling a ton of these come this Holiday Shopping Season!

Besides from sharing your pictures via email or uploading to any social network( ex. Twitter/Facebook), Droid X users could now share their pictures by sending them to a local retailer, such as CVS to have them print you a hard copy of your photograph.

After you snap your photo on your 8MP Camera, click on the “Share” option.  You will then find a list of participating retailers in the area to print out your photo. Enter in your information and click on “Place Order”. Your photo will be ready for pickup within an hour. It also gives you the option to search local retailers by entering in a zip code.
